Little paws

As I walked into the cabin this evening,

I looked down upon the stairs,

and what did I see but two small hands.

Who knows when they appeared,

or how long they have been there,

or how long they will remain.

What I do know

is that when I see these two little hands

staring up at me,

I smile,

knowing that at some point,

a little person reached out

and left his mark upon the world...

and I am lucky enough to stand witness...

relishing in these moments of silent joy.
